Adidas Runbase
Community building on the double
In a nutshell
For Adidas, the aim was to create a base where runners could not only relax and socialise, but also receive professional support and get the most out of their training sessions. The running base at 10-12 Váci út was redesigned to be a home for everything, reflecting Adidas’ well-known urban street image, but also a cosy place where you’d feel at home after a run.

Az Adidas Runners
For some time now, Adidas has been building a community of people who get together regularly to run. They organise great events, programmes and training sessions for them and it’s time to build a base for them. One of their shops had to be converted so that, in addition to indoor training, warm-ups and stretching, there could be clubbing, coffee or refreshments, chatting or even table tennis and table football. Several functional layouts were considered during the conceptual design phase to find the most suitable one. Some walls had to be taken down or moved, but in the end everything found its place.
The concept
It’s rewarding to design for adidas because the urban-industrial style is close to our hearts anyway. We took inspiration from New York streetball courts, rusty warming barrels, portside warehouses and, last but not least, sneakers. The influence of the latter can be seen in the design of the suspended ceiling. The use of materials also reinforces the industrial style: raw steel structures with OSB panels, rusted surfaces, mechanical components as plant holders, industrial lamps, raw concrete surfaces. Thinking about how to incorporate running into our design, the following visual illusion was created by combining the gate with our artwork, utilizing the so called Moiré effect.
