In a nutshell

It’s an interesting situation in the life of an interior designer when, for the first time, there is no client to create something with, but both are one person.

I must admit that these 12 months together with this 29 m2 flat have been quite nice. I was able to carry out the interior design concept I had come up with for this magical little garden apartment without any compromises.

There were no walls to move in this case, as a matter of fact there weren’t any… The organisation of the space was one degree easier: a coherent furniture had to be used to rethink the gallery, the access to it, the dining table and the overall mechanical layout, and maximising storage. By cladding the bathroom block wall in the same material, all the elements in the space come together as a single, amoeba-like object.

After thinking through the all-natural materials – and even surface treatments – came the reward game: the infinite number of jokes in the details.
Engineering blueprints of the heart dominate the wall, …
… while the abstract form decorates the kitchen.
The apartment’s plans overlay the printed glass of the bathroom shower.
I finally managed to bring the trendy connection of the hexagonal cement board and the oak floor together somewhere.
Ambient lights of the universe appear in the wall panel above the bed, …
… and a quote from our famous poet, Radnóti on the ventilation cover.
I managed to give new life to the “director’s” chair my architect father had used for decades.
The Hannabi Urban Nomad poufs have also managed to find the perfect home, with walls and wardrobe doors covered in the same fabric as the sofa.
Inspired by Juci Kele’s (the designer’s wife:) picture ‘Wish’, we can immediately make a wish on the phone…
… and it is in this apartment that the most characteristic piece of brick is housed.
It’s a funny contradiction that although I have put a visible part of my soul into this apartment, I will not live in it, but I am very happy that others love and enjoy it.
That is how it got its name: Lovia.
