Wall decoration a.k.a. PimpMyWall
Our journey together started with wall decorations in 2010. Our custom murals became so successful and in demand that we founded our joint studio, PimpMyWall. Today, our team’s activities have expanded considerably, but “pimping” is still one of our favourite pastimes and last but not least, we are now market leaders in the genre, helping companies like Tata, Viacom, LogMeIn and (Kirowski) Isobar to upgrade their workplaces.
Wall decoration can make a huge difference to the ambience of a space, there is no other intervention that can make such a big impact for so much money. In economics terms: value for money unbeatable!
Always unique: we draw inspiration from the space and your personality to create the perfect result.
Design phase
For wall decorations, we follow the same professional design approach that we have as graphic designers and architects. We carefully map out your needs, your style and of course the location. The actual graphic design only begins after that, with three phases of design consultation. The final design is the result of a collaborative effort, so it’s sure to be one that you and we are happy with.
1. Concept and moodboard
In the first phase, we define the style based on examples and sketch out some clever concepts. Our aim is always to produce visual and expressive, yet meaningful graphics that can add something new, even on subsequent viewings.
2. Sketches
Once we have found the right direction in terms of both style and content, let’s get sketching!
3. Photo montage visuals
You’ll receive the final design of your wall decoration as a visual plan integrated into a photo, so you’ll see exactly what the end result will look like.
Implementation
The implementation technique depends on the graphics, the deadline and of course your choice. Be warned: we love to experiment with basic techniques, if you’re not careful you’ll have a complete mixed media art installation on your wall!
The most common techniques we use are:
Painting
We love to paint. It’s the most artisanal form of wall decoration, and the most time-consuming. It’s also definitely unique and has the least material requirements and environmental footprint. If we paint, our team will be standing next to the wall for days/weeks.
Decals
For vector-based, geometric graphics and lettering, wall stickers are unbeatable. It requires a bit more prepress, but it’ll be on the wall in no time and the result will be pin-sharp.
Wallpaper
If the wall decoration covers the whole wall, or if there are details that cannot be cut by a plotter, or colour transitions in the artwork, then plastic or paper wallpaper is the best solution.
